1. Real visual depth: Multiple laminated layers and staggered, irregular tabs create shadow lines across the roof that a flat shingle cannot produce. From the street a good designer shingle roof genuinely reads as slate or shake.

2. Class 4 impact resistance: This is the one that matters most in Texas. Many designer shingle lines are rated Class 4, the highest impact classification, and most Texas insurers offer a premium discount for a Class 4 roof. Over the life of the roof that discount is real money.

3. Thirty to fifty year service life: Premium laminated shingles are substantially thicker and heavier than standard architectural shingles, and they carry warranties to match, commonly in the thirty to fifty year range.

4. No structural upgrade required: Unlike slate, clay or concrete, designer shingles impose a load your existing framing almost certainly already handles. That removes an entire category of cost from the project.

5. Straightforward to repair: Damaged shingles are replaced individually by any competent roofer, and matching stock stays available for years. Nothing about a repair is specialist work.

Our Designer Shingle Installation Process

A premium shingle installed to a minimum standard is just an expensive ordinary roof. Our process is built around the details that actually determine how long it lasts.

1. Inspection and decking assessment: We strip a test area and assess the decking underneath. Soft, delaminated or rotted sheathing is replaced rather than covered, because no shingle performs over a bad deck.

2. Product selection: We bring samples out to your property and look at them against your brick, stone and trim in daylight. We also confirm which lines carry the Class 4 rating and what that does to your insurance position.

3. Underlayment and ice and water shield: Synthetic underlayment across the field, with self-adhered membrane in valleys and around every penetration. These are the places roofs leak and the extra material is trivial against the cost of a callback.

4. Ventilation correction: We check intake and exhaust ventilation and correct the balance where it is wrong. Inadequate ventilation cooks a shingle roof from underneath and is the most common cause of premature failure we see in Texas attics.

5. Installation with correct nailing: Premium shingles require a specific nailing pattern and placement, and a nail set too high is the single most common installation error in the trade. Our crews are trained on it and our supervisors check it.

6. Ridge, hip and final inspection: We finish with matching ridge cap and ridge vent, clear the site with magnetic sweeps for nails, and walk the roof before handing over the warranty registration.
